Leadership Article explores Mawaheb Saeed’s insights on Sharjah’s evolving entrepreneurial landscape and how the emirate is shaping new opportunities in a changing economy.

In a recently published opinion article, Mawaheb Saeed, Co-Founder and Managing Director of YAZ Media, highlighted Sharjah’s growing role in shaping a new model of entrepreneurship built on resilience, long-term value creation, and sustainable economic growth. According to Mawaheb Saeed, the conversation around entrepreneurship is no longer centered solely on how businesses grow, but on how they adapt, build trust, and sustain their relevance in an increasingly unpredictable economic environment. Mawaheb Saeed noted that Sharjah has successfully positioned entrepreneurship as a core component of its broader economic strategy by creating an integrated ecosystem that supports businesses at every stage of development, from idea generation and incubation to market expansion and long-term growth. Mawaheb Saeed pointed to several institutions that have played a significant role in strengthening the emirate’s entrepreneurial landscape, including Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa), which supports startups through incubation and acceleration programs while connecting founders with investors and strategic opportunities. She also highlighted the contribution of Sharjah Foundation to Support Pioneer Entrepreneurs (RUWAD) in empowering Emirati entrepreneurs through advisory services, funding support, and access to business opportunities, alongside the efforts of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) in enhancing the emirate’s attractiveness as an investment destination. Beyond funding and infrastructure, Mawaheb Saeed emphasized that one of the greatest challenges facing businesses today is the ability to define their position in the market and communicate a clear identity. She argued that communication has evolved beyond a traditional marketing function to become a strategic business tool that influences decision-making, strengthens reputation, and builds long-term trust. Mawaheb Saeed further stressed the importance of authentic Arabic content as a strategic necessity rather than a cultural preference, noting that organizations seeking differentiation in an increasingly competitive marketplace must develop distinctive identities rooted in language, context, and cultural understanding. According to Mawaheb Saeed, Sharjah’s ability to balance institutional support with entrepreneurial flexibility has created an environment where businesses can innovate confidently while remaining connected to local values and market realities. Mawaheb Saeed concluded that entrepreneurship is no longer simply a career path, but a key driver of economic transformation and future growth. In her view, Sharjah offers a compelling example of how integrated vision, strategic support, and effective execution can redefine the role of entrepreneurship in modern economies.
